On October 25, 2001 Microsoft (windows) releases their newest version, Windows XP. (XP stands for: eXPerience) (codenamed: Whistler)
Windows XP is the merging of Windows NT/2000 and Windows 95/98/ME, which was never achieved before.
It also was the longest version of Windows ever released, which had upgrades from 2001 till 2007.
Concluding, it was the first consumer bought system by Microsoft, that was built on the Windows NT kernel and architecture.
